Week 9

This past Wednesday was the day of the second exam, so I was expected a few students to show up on Monday to review.  Unfortunately, no students attended the session.  Friday's session, however, had the same two students attend that have attended the past two weeks.  We reviewed problems regarding center of mass, conservation of linear momentum, and rockets.  Additionally, we clarified some confusion that arose during discussions in lecture. Overall, Friday's session was worthwhile and Monday's session continued on its trend of low to no attendance.

Week of 10/26

I had 8 students come over both office hours this week. I'm assuming there was an increase in attendance due to their test on Thursday. For the first half of the block we reviewed Work and Energy.  The second half of the block was dedicated to general review of any questions they had.  We went over a few conceptual examples from the book and solved 2 recommended book problems that they had trouble solving.  The students were a little anxious from the exam, but from what I saw, I think they have a pretty good grasp of the material and should do well.

Week 8

As the students had an exam this week, office hours were fairly busy. I had something like 5 people on Tuesday and 1 person on Wednesday. We discussed the review material that Dr. Salman gave the students to prepare for the exam. The students actually mostly worked together and used me for a resource when they weren't sure of a particular problem.

Week 7

Week 7 was fairly slow... I did not have office hours on Tuesday due to the schedule change after fall break. On Wednesday, one student showed up and we worked on the problems created by the other UTA's and myself. We also went over some issues she was having with the homework.

Week 8

I had one student in my office hours each day. Both of them had quick questions with their homework. They understood the concepts and had made algebra errors. I looked over their work, and helped them identify their error, at which point they could easily complete their problems. One student mentioned that he and most of the students he had talked to in the class found this homework assignment to be quite simple and straightforward.

week 7

Numbers are holding steady so far, and still almost always about the homework. Guess that is how the semester will be going. This week there were 9 students to show up to my office hours, not bad for having one day off

Week 7

Dr. Broccio
Tuesday 6pm

There was no class this week due to fall break. No students attended my office hours, although I had anticipated a few for my Thursday hour, with the exam coming up on the 29th. I followed my normal preparation, watching the videos and reviewing the more difficult concepts. I recalled struggling with collisions and rotational kinematics when I took Physics I, so I reviewed those more carefully. I am anticipating students attending my office hours next week with the exam being so close.

Week of 10/26

I had two students come in with the same question from the homework. They felt otherwise prepared for their upcoming test. One student has come a few times before and has found it helpful so has returned.

Week 7

This week, we have prepared two questions about center of mass.
After fall break, no one come to my classroom.

Week 7

5 students showed up to office hours. Students came in asking questions they had about homework. A few had questions involving concepts. I'm assuming that there will not be a large amount of students showing up after the bonus points are no longer available.

Week 7

Another successful week.

Monday was slow as usual. I only had 3 students show up as a group and they worked on homework and asked questions periodically. Wednesday was when I got a larger crowd as per the usual. I had ~9 students come in with predominantly conceptual questions pertaining to the upcoming test on Friday. We went over basic ideas from chapters that will be on the test as well as went over some book problems that contained these topics. Wednesdays review was pretty constructive I would say and I had a student email me saying that he had all of his questions answered.

Week 7

Bhupinder Singh Physics 1 Professor Broccio Tuesdays 6-7:20pm This week, there was no physics lecture due to the fall break schedule shift. However, the exam is coming up this week, and I hope to see some students in my office hours. No one came last week, but I expect a few students to appear this week. The material is building upon itself, so I feel like this will test students knowledge, if they grasp the fundamentals of the earlier chapters, and are able to apply it to later material. Hopefully, I can be helpful to anyone who comes to office hours.

Week 8

This week was pretty standard. The students I usually see every week came into ask questions on the online homework. The students also received their exam scores this week. I talked to a few of them about how I usually prepare for an exam and gave them tips on how they could improve their performance. I wasn't able to attend the homework grading session this week, so I'm not sure how that went.

Week 7

There were significantly less people at office hours this week. This was because there was no written homework due that week. A few people I see every week came in to ask questions on the online homework. We also had a grading session for the exam this week. Since the tests had the students' names on them, the UTAs were only allowed to add up points and write down the scantron scores. This grading session took a lot longer than usual, but it was successful as usual.

Week 6

The week of the exam, I had a lot more students on Monday and Thursday than usual. They asked questions on the homework and the formatting of the exam. I also had a private office hour session with a students who couldn't make my other times. Helping to proctor the exam was an interesting and unique experience. It was different being on the other side of the exam, but I wold say everything went well.

Week 5

This was the week before the first exam. I was expecting to have a few more students than usual, but that didn't happen. The same students came to my office hours and they only asked questions regarding homework, not the exam. The grading session went as usual and lasted only about 3 hours. Everything was pretty standard this week.

Week 4

This week was pretty standard for office hours. I'm starting to see a lot of the same faces on Mondays and Thursdays. Our grading session was also successful. It took a little longer than last time, but that's because the homework was a lot more difficult.

Week 3

I had a lot more students come to my office hours this week. It was a little overwhelming at first, but I was able to help them on their written homework. This week's written portion was a lot more difficult than the previous one, so I was expecting to have more people. This was also the first week we had a grading session. It was a lot to do at first, but  became easier as I graded more papers.

Week 2

This week I only had office hours once because we had Monday off. There were only a few students that showed up to my office hours on Thursday. I was able to help them with their online homework, which is due on Sunday night. I expect that my Thursday office hours won't have as many people because written homework is due on Tuesdays.

Week 1

For the first week, I conducted office hours on the 3rd floor of Alumni Hall. Only one student attended, which is understandable for the first few weeks of classes. There are classes around my office hour times so there were many non physics students in the area. I feel like someone students may have tried to come to my office hours but could not find me in the crowd. Other than that  would say the first week was pretty successful.

Week 8

The students have a test next week. I expected a larger turnout because of this, however; I only had one student attend my hours again. We discussed problems out of the book and I went over the method of finding the center of mass of objects. I think the student learned a lot in this session. Hopefully she does well on the test.

Saturday, October 24, 2015

Week 7

My Tuesday office hours did not take place because I have class on Mondays during that time. I did not have any students attend my Wednesday office hours. When looking over the homework, I noticed that the questions seemed somewhat more simple than usual, which could have contributed.

Week 7

Melanie Roberts
Professor Broccio
Tuesday 6-7:20pm

Week 7

No students came to my office hours this week.  Also, there was no class this week due to fall break.  The material for this week covered linear momentum, collisions, and rotational motion.  I prepared for office hours this week by watching the video modules and looking over the homework.  I remember struggling with momentum the first time I learned it, and I hope that students who need clarification will seek help. The exam for this block of material is this Thursday, so I might see some students in my office hours on Monday.

Week 6

This week I had one student come in to ask for hw questions. It was the week of the exam and not many questions came in for help.

Week 7: Oct 19-23

PHYS 0110
Dr. Broccio, Tuesdays at 6:00

I had two students come to my office hours this week. We discussed the work-energy theorem. We talked about how to recognize when to use the theorem. The conclusion we came to was to think about changing velocities (thus changing kinetic energy), and what forces caused that change. I anticipate more students to come next week, as the test is next Thursday.

Week of Oct 19th

I had no students come into office hours this week, I think the holiday break schedule may have confused them. I had a student tell me she would need help next week and that she will be attending my next office hours on Monday.

Week 8

Week 8 study sessions covered linear momentum and center of mass.  Monday's session had one student in attendance who had several questions regarding general principles of these two topics and had a few questions from the pre-lecture assignments.  Friday's session had two students who had some questions regarding problems from previous exams.  After the exam questions were answered, the entire UTA sheet prepared before the session was covered, though having one additional question would have been beneficial as they did not fill the entire allotted hour.  Overall, the study sessions were productive and next week's should be beneficial for review for the exam on Wednesday.

Week 8

This week the students have a test on Friday. Surprisingly, I didn't have a lot of question about the upcoming test. I didn't hold office hours on Monday because of the holiday. On Tuesday, I had about 4 students come in. Mostly they were working on the homework due this week, and would only ask for my assistance if they didn't know how to do a problem or got it wrong. On Wednesday, I had about 15 people come in. Mostly, students had one or two questions on the homework. I had a few students come in to review for the test, mainly asking about concepts that will be on the test.

Thursday, October 22, 2015

Week of Oct. 19

I had 4 students come in this week. In our review sessions this week we briefly went over frictional forces and air resistance review.  We spent the remainder of time going over conceptual book problems or homework problems. Solid week overall.  I'm expecting more of a turnout next with with the approaching test.

Week 6

Dr. Broccio
Tuesday 6pm

My office hours were again not attended. However, I followed my usual preparation of watching the videos and going over the more difficult homework problems. Due to the fall break there is no lecture next week, so I am anticipating more attendance at my office hours.

Week 7

Because of the Fall Break Monday class schedule this week, and because my office hours are on Tuesday, I did not have office hours this week.

Week 6

This week, about 6 students came to my office hours. Because my office hours are on Tuesday, many of the students come in with questions about the homework due on Wednesday. However, I am continuing to bring sample problems for the students in case they want extra practice. I have a mix of a couple repeat students who come (almost) every week, as well as one-time students. Overall I feel that the students have a solid grasp of the physics concepts, and many of the problems they have do not take much correction before they fully understand and are able to do the problems without assistance.

Week 6

Sorry for the late post, very uneventful session no one came.

-Souvik Roy

Week 7

I had several students come in all asking for homework help. I helped each student individually and they worked together to figure some stuff out!

Week 6

I had some students come in and ask me about the video checkpoints for Broccio's flipped class and I had never seen these before so that was a new experience. We figured out the two she was having issues with so that was good.

I had a few students come in this week mainly for homework help. There was some confusion with setting up these problems and understanding the role of net forces. One student had a question on a book problem, but I was unable to figure it out for some reason and directed him towards seeing the professor to clear things up.

Physics 2
Hong MWF 9:00

This week 4 students came to my office hours.  They came with some questions about the concepts in class but mainly about the homework.  I was impressed with how quickly they grasped the concept.  Once I explained what the question was asking, they worked together mainly to answer the question. The homework was about circuits and Kirchhoff's laws.

Week 6

Melanie Roberts
Professor Broccio
Tuesday 6-7:20 pm

No one came to any of my office hours this week.  I prepared for the office hours by looking over the homework, watching the video modules, and going over the appropriate sections of the text book.  This week, the lecture information covered work and energy.  In class, a fair number of students had difficulty with the lecture problems. However, by the end, many students had a better understanding of how to approach these types of problems.  Hopefully students who unsure of this material will attend some session of office hours for clarification.

Sunday, October 18, 2015

week 6

Bhupinder Singh Physics 1 Professor Broccio Tuesdays 6-7:20pm This week, there was work and energy being taught. This was one of the hardest concepts to fully understand, when I was first learning it, so that's why I tried to be helpful as much as I could during lecture. During the problems in class, I helped convey some general idea's on how to proceed with work and energy problems. Hopefully, this week in office hours, I can give a more in depth explanation to students who are still struggling.

Week 6: Oct 12-16

Dr. Broccio
Physics 0110, Tuesdays at 6

I had one student come to my office hours twice this week. We talked about uniform circular motion and the various conceptual issues that accompany it. Specifically, I drew on the board a circle and various paths that a rock would "fly off" the circle. E.g. it would curve, go straight at a slope, go tangent, etc. We talked about why it flies of tangent every time. Then, we talked about the difference between the tangential velocity and the angular velocity. For several of the homework problems, it was important to realize that the tangential velocity changes depending on the radius, but the angular velocity does not.

Week 6

One girl showed up to my session on both days, and no other students showed up. I think the colder weather may be discouraging the students a bit, as I'm noticing less and less students coming for extra help. During our sessions, we discussed some homework problems about frictional and centripetal forces, and the work done by both of them. We also went over the additional practice problems.

Week 5

Week 5 was a slow week, not many people showed up to either of my sessions. The few students who did show up were mostly there for the extra practice, though. Frequently students will come for homework help, but this week it was for additional physics problems that the other UTAs and myself created.

Saturday, October 17, 2015

Week 6

This week there were 3 students that came to my Wednesday office hours and 3 students that came to my Thursday office hours.  Most questions pertained to work and momentum.

Week 6

This week was pretty uneventful.

My Monday turn out 5 which is right about what it usually is. Again this week people had problems with the homework except for one student who just came because he wanted to see what other people asked in case he was able to learn something from the explanation. On Wednesday however, I was expecting a big turn out like I did last week since it's the same day the homework is due. Last week I had 11 people show up in the hour where as this week I only had 3. They had also come last week and said that they thought it was probably slower this week because last weeks homework was especially hard and they had an easier time with this weeks.
I am glad that I was able to help people in a more 1 on 1 way this week since it seems that that is most helpful to the students.

Week 7

Week 7 covered work and potential energy and was another successful week of peer led study sessions, despite the lack of attendance in Monday's session.  Friday's session had three attendees and all of the problems on the prepared worksheet were covered.  Additionally, I was able to answer a few questions on center of mass, though a more thorough discussion of that subject will commence next week.  Overall, attendance was slightly less than average but Friday's session seemed useful for reinforcing concepts.

Week 6

This week I didn't have any students show up to my office hours. It was disappointing, but I did get to help a lot of students during class this week. The class material is currently revolving around circular motion and the students were having trouble conceptually understanding it. By working with them through a few problems in class, they were definitely getting the hang of it.

Week 6

Kevin Jonovich
PHYS 0174
M/F 2-3, W 2-4

8 people showed up to office hours this week. Students came in confused about homework problems. I was able to get done problems quickly because there weren't a large number of students. As expected, less people showed up because the students had a test last week, and the bonus points are no longer available.

Wednesday, October 14, 2015

Week 7

This week I had 5 students attend the review sessions.  We mostly covered mostly uniform circular motion, but also reviewed frictional forces--stressing the importance of free-body diagrams.  The students seemed to struggle a bit with the concept of centripetal force more than I had anticipated.  Hopefully I was able to clear up any conceptual misunderstandings they had.

I also went over the exam 1 questions with a couple students.  I found that a large amount of their mistakes came not because they didn't know how to solve the problem, but because they misread the question (or solved for velocity instead of acceleration, etc.).  These are mistakes they can hopefully avoid in the future.

Week of 10/11

I had no students come into office hours this week. Probably next week i will see a few.

Week 6

The students had their first midterm last Friday, so there were not many students this week. I had two students on Tuesday, both of whom wanted help with the homework which was due that day. They stayed for the majority of the time.

On Wednesday, I had one student, who didn't stay for very long, since he just had one short clarification to make.

Week 5: Oct 5th-9th

Professor Broccio
Tuesdays at 6 p.m.
PHYS 0110

I'm writing this post late. Unfortunately, no one came to my office hours last week. This was the week after the test, so I suppose there wasn't a pressing need to come. The average for the class was good, so maybe the students feel comfortable with their abilities. Professor Broccio did stress in lecture to not let up, as the last two tests have concepts that are more difficult than the first test.

I enjoy helping out during the lecture activities. I'm finding that there's a pretty wide range of "ability levels" in the class, and it's hard to help everyone.

Week 5

No one showed up for physics, but my friend accidentally tried to come in my room and I taught her about a different class. It was a productive use of my time seeing that no physics students needed my help. Maybe people will come again closer to the next exam.

Monday, October 12, 2015

Week 5

Dr. Broccio
Tuesday 6pm

This week I prepared for my office hours as normal, watching the videos and going over the homework set, looking for more difficult concepts. However, my office hours were not attended at all, likely due to the first midterm being fairly recent.

The classwork is going well, since most of the students are becoming more used to working in their small groups. I'm looking forward to the upcoming weeks, since the second midterm is drawing closer. Hopefully more students will attend.

Week 6

I unfortunately only had 1 student attend my hours again. However I was pleased that she seems to be learning at a rapid pace, and seems to really understand the concepts now. She struggled slightly in the beginning of the year, but now barely has any questions when she comes in. I'm glad she is learning so much.

Week 5

Monday, October 12th

Taeck Kim

This week I had three students come in to ask for hw questions. I helped them solve the question but also explained to them how to think about the problem.

Sunday, October 11, 2015

Week 6

I was happy to see a rise in attendance this week--I had a total of 7 students attend the review sessions. They were mostly the same familiar faces that have attended in previous weeks. I feel like we are starting to become more familiar to each other, and as a result the students seem much more willing to ask for more explanation if necessary, or will ask follow up questions to a concept we have just covered.  Overall, I think these sessions have become increasingly helpful to the students--I hope they feel the same way.

Week 5

Tom Reynolds
Physics 2
Hong MWF 9:00

3 people came to my office hours on Thursday in preparation for the exam on Friday.  They had questions about some concepts but they mainly came with questions about the solutions to the previous homeworks.  I showed them what the solution meant and explained how to go about solving the problem, answered any remaining questions they had, gave them some tips on what to study and then they left.

Week 5

This week a lot of students came in for help.  There were questions pertaining to the homework and on Thursday 3 students came in with questions on homework that was late and had not been completed.  There were also a 4 kids who had questions on integrals and how to take an integral.  Compared to other weeks, this week's concept quiz/HW assignment was pretty challenging for the kids and this was indicated by the high number of students that came in with questions.

Week 5

Bhupinder Singh Physics 1 Professor Broccio Tuesdays 6-7:20pm This week it was just like every other week. No student came to my office hours, however, I helped these two students with the in class problem which was the only highlight of the week. Other than that, there hasn't been anything new. I'm sure there will be some new students coming to my office hour because the course is starting to become a little difficutl. Other than that, think aloud tasks will be posted shortly too, so I'm excited for that.

Week 5

Attendance is holding steady, however the last homework seems to have given student a lot of problems. specifically the algebra based entry. 11 or so students had questions on this problem. The errors were usually small, like forgetting a subscript or a negative sign, which is definitely better than a gross misunderstanding.  However, class continues on, and the next test is coming up fast.

Week 5

This week 6 students came to my office hours, mainly with questions about the homework. Since students often struggle with the same homework problems and they often come to office hours at different times, I have started leaving the problems set up on the board so that students who missed my original explanation can have the problem explained to them by other students. I also have a couple students who have come back for recurring weeks. I think that many students will come to office hours this week because of the upcoming exam.

Week 5

Qihang Ou
M1-2 W3-4
Had 3 students come to my session on Monday, but no one came on Thursday. We used the sheet we prepared. There are two problems. I spent some time talking about the first problem about circular motion. The next one is about energy, and we can discussed about it in the coming week.

Friday, October 9, 2015

Week 5

This week I had one student come to office hours. We went over some problems from the book that dealt with frictional force, normal force, and Newton's second law. The student was still have trouble with vector components when the object in question was on an incline. Thankfully, there is a white board in my room for office hours so it was very helpful to draw out the scenario for the student.

Week 6

This week's study sessions had five students between the two sessions (four on Monday, one on Friday) and both were productive and instructive.  The students who attended Monday's session had plenty of questions regarding material covered in the pre-lecture assignments.  Covering these concepts and answering their questions took the whole hour, so there was not time to cover the prepared problems.  The student who attended Friday's question had several questions regarding physics experiments, such as a falling slinky, that took the majority of the time in the session.  Though these questions were not directly related to course material, they were fun to conceptualize and discuss.  In addition, the first problem on the prepared worksheet was reviewed, and the steps to answer the second worksheet question were laid out.  Overall, this week was another week of successful sessions.

I had a few students come in this week. I went over the test with one of them to help them understand how to approach certain types of questions. Vectors were still a problem so we went over those. I also had to help visualize certain problems and draw them out so they understood what was going on.

Week 5

Wednesday office hours have continued to be more successful than my Tuesday hours were.

On Monday I only had 2 people, and they just had questions clarifying mistakes they made on homework problems. However on Wednesday, I had 11 people show up. For the first 15 minutes I only had 2 so I was able to respond to their individual questions that had to do with homework. After around 15 minutes there was a lot of people who showed up so I had them come up with a consensus of which problems they all needed help with. I tried to go over as many different types of problems as I could in the remaining time.

Week 5

I had six students on Tuesday and eight students on Wednesday. Most of my students on Wednesday showed up in the first half hour and had class at nine. For the last hour on Wednesday, only two students showed up. This is the first time I have had to myself during office hours. Tuesday, however, there were students there at almost all times, but it wasn't too busy, and I was able to individually help students.

Tom Reynolds
Physics 175

This week I had one student come for help on how to prepare for the upcoming exam and one come for  help with this week's homework.  The homework question was rather involved and so he stayed for a while and we talked about the question and how to go about solving it.  It required a bit of a recap of taylor expansions from calc 2.

Week 4

Broccio T 6pm

I did not hold a think-aloud hour this week, and my pre-exam office hour was attended by two students. One wanted some reassurance about her approach to the practice problems and help making an equation sheet, while the other also wanted help with his formula sheet. I also gave reminded them to draw pictures to help them solve problems.

My office hours after the exam were not attended. The lecture this week went well, I am beginning to get to know some of the students by name and learn what specifically to look for in the group problem-solving time.

Week 4

Week 4 was average in terms of attendance. I had three students attend on Tuesday and no students attend on Wednesday. This isn't very surprising because there was just an exam last week. In our session we discussed frictional forces and did several practice problems. I should note that the students hadn't learned about friction in lecture yet, so I was teaching them new material to give them a head-start on lecture material.

Week 4

Nobody came to my office hours this week.

Sunday, October 4, 2015

Week 5

I did not have any students attend my office hours this past week.  This is most likely because the students had a test earlier in the week.  Hoping to see the  attendance rise again next week.

Week 4

Bhupinder Singh Physics 1 Professor Broccio Tuesdays 6-7:20pm This week was the exam week, so I kinda prepared myself ahead of time for the students. I only managed to help two students this week, which felt really rewarding because they seemed so down because they weren't grasping the concept until I showed it to them. Hopefully, their exam went well, i'm hoping to help more students this week as we progress further into the coursework.

Week 4

This week only 3 students came to my office hours, because it was right after the exam. Most students wanted help with homework or reviewing concepts from the exam.

I will continue to bring worksheets that I made into office hours incase students come in without specific questions. Hopefully more students will come again next week.

Week 4

Qihang Ou

After the exam, only 2 students came in my session. We discussed some questions we prepared for this week. No student came on Wednesday.
Professor sent an email to all students to let them know the schedule of uta session. Hope there will be more people coming in next week.

week 4

Attendance is staying up, 11 people showed up at my office hours this week, including 2 from Dr Devity's class. Most people had questions on the homework, but a few came in with concept checks and extra practice problems.

Week 4

I had no one come to either of my office hours this week.

Week of 9/27

I had one student sow up to my Monday office hours and we worked on reviewing homework problems for almost the full 2 hours. Another student contacted me telling me he could not make my Monday office hours so we did review problems in the library Sunday night.

Saturday, October 3, 2015

Week 4

I had three students come to my office hours this week. I did not hold a Think Aloud hour. The students were all interested in going over a few things for the test. We basically just made sure that their equation sheets were okay and that they understood what each equation meant. Aside from that, we discussed general problem solving techniques: draw a picture, define your coordinate system, etc.

The lecture went well this week also. I think I'm getting a better sense of what type of questions to ask during the groupwork.

Friday, October 2, 2015

Week 4

I had five students for my office hours on Tuesday, and one could only stay for about fifteen minutes. Since there weren't too many people, I was able to do more for each student, which I was happy to be able to do. Two students stayed for almost the entire time.

On Wednesday, I had ten students, all of whom stayed for a while, so it was significantly more busy. I helped them solve questions, and tried to clarify conceptual issues, but it was hard to make sure that one student understood everything without neglecting other students' questions.  By the end, though, I was able to address everything.

Week 4

This week was a pretty quiet week during my Wednesday and Thursday office hours.  This was probably due to the test last week in Dr. Nero's class. On Wednesday I had a student come in to discuss some homework questions that she was having trouble with.  On Thursday, nobody came during the 2 hour office hour session.  Previously, there have been anywhere from 10-15 students who come in with questions on the Thursday office hours.

Week 4

This week I didn't have anyone come to my office hours. The lack of attendance has been a little disappointing. I have been excited to help students out but it doesn't seem like they need any assistance (or at least they are coming to look for it). The class has been going at an easy pace so I guess students haven't had too much trouble keeping up. Hopefully I will get some visitors during office hours next week.

Week 5

This week's UTA sessions were a mix of highs and lows.  Monday's session had no attendees, possibly due to the room switch.  As Dr. Salman published the link to the UTA calendar, hopefully any room changes will no longer be an issue.  Friday's session had 5 students from the class, including 3 who had come to a prior session.  The students had several questions about the PLA, the majority of which concerned how to properly input an equation into the system.  This has been a recurring issue that should be addressed (possibly by not using the Sapling software), as students have the correct answer but the program does not recognize that it is correct.  After the questions regarding the PLA were addressed, we covered the entire worksheet.  Overall, Friday's session seemed to be successful.

Week 4

PHYS 0174
Devaty M/F 2-3 W 2-4

A total of 41 students showed up for office hours. Students had a lot of trouble with homework problems and the concepts behind them. Students were very confused by a problem that involved calculus. I was confused since this is a non calculus physics course, but I was able to get the answer after giving the problem a try.

Week 4

Once again, no students came to my office hours this week.  I prepared for the office hours by watching the video modules, going over the week's homework, and preparing some review topics for discussion.  I also thought about how I might advise students in regards to their equation sheets.  When I spoke to some students outside of class and office hours, they said that they thought the test had gone well.

Week 4

Week 4

This week there were 4 students who came out to office hours for homework help. I tried to set up the problem and they were able to figure it out for the most part. I tried to reference physics as mostly "setting up the scenario," and it helped the students.
