This week I did not have anyone at my office hours. Students are currently learning about mirrors and lenses. These topics can be extremely confusing especially during a timed test. The best way to do well is to practice every scenario for mirrors and lenses. Although there are only a few scenarios for mirrors and lenses, if students do not practice ray diagrams, they will make mistakes during the test. Many of the concepts that have to do with light are confusing. While the equations are not that complicated at this point, the actual concepts are difficult. For example, the idea of reflection and refraction can be complicated. Total internal reflection, the speed of light in different mediums, and what different wavelengths of light mean are other topics that are complicated.
