Week of 2/25/2019

This week people came to both days of my office hours. On Tuesday, the person that came was confused on how to use the right hand rule, so I re-explained what each finger meant (index cross middle equals thumb) and went through a few practice problems. Additionally, when going over some of the Sapling practice problems, I reminded her that electric potential was a scalar quantity, so direction wasn't important. On Thursday, we went through all the conceptual points students need for the second exam. When going over a Sapling problem, the student confused electric force with magnetic force (direction of magnetic force depends on velocity and field being perpendicular, electric force only depends on the field and the charge of the point charge).
