My first week of holding office hours went well. I was not sure if any students would even show up, but to my surprise I averaged about 4 students a session. They all usually had the same questions about the same homework problems. Therefore, I structured my sessions so that I would work through the problems at the board while asking them questions about what the next step should be. This proved to be efficient because I was not just giving them the answers, rather I was filling in their gaps of knowledge so that they could solve the problems themselves. I look forward to the rest of the semester.
